As 2017 draws to a close and I turned 21 yesterday, I reflect back on something important I've learned this year. I claimed 2017 as the year for helping people versus focusing on myself. I finished out a running series- a 5k, 5 mile, 10k, 10 mile, and finally the half marathon-13.1 miles. There has never been a group more encouraging than a group of random strangers clustered together working toward one dream-to finish. If we all just stopped for a moment and considered encouraging others instead of talking down to someone or harshly criticizing them, just think how much we could build others up and watch them grow to be everything they could be! I know so many people (myself included) that work for the praise of others and rise and fall with how people praise them.

Why should we base our hopes, our dreams, our goals on something that nobody else sees? Every single person has a different dream than you. They are not going to be as invested in this dream like you are so why listen to what negative judgement they have to offer? Most people that speak ill of you and your goals have fallen short of their own or gotten fed up with striving for a dream. They try to make you fail like them so they can level the playing field and feel better about themselves. So much of life is just mental🧠 If we all were just encouraging and gave constructive criticism vs. saying ugly things when someone messes up, think of how crazy good everyone could become TOGETHER!

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me...and I encourage you to be reminded of the same!

You can do it.

You can eat that whole plate of french fries by yourself. You can get that raise. You can get published with your book. You can do whatever you set your mind to. Now see? How hard was that?

My challenge for you this week is to encourage your neighbor in anything-it doesn't have to be big. Just do it. And keep it up for a whole week in encouraging your people around you. You'll notice the difference it makes.

xoxo, Char
